Day 1: Arrive Paro, and transfer to Thimphu
In clear weather, flight to Bhutan provides a wonderful view of Himalayan scenery. On arrival, you wll be met by our representative and drive to Thimphu ( 55 km, 2 hours ) , the modern capital town of Bhutan.

Day 2: Thimphu
The full day of sightseeing in Thimphu valley includes visit to: National Library, which houses an extensive collection of Buddhist literature with some works dating back several hundred years: Zorig Chusum (commonly known as the Painting School), where a six year training course is given in the 13 traditional arts and crafts of Bhutan: Traditional Medicine Institute, the rich herbal medicines abundant in Kingdom is prepared here: Textile and Folk Heritage Museum, the fascinating testimony of the Bhutanese material culture and living traditions: Memorial Chorten; the beautiful stupa built in the memory of Bhutan’s third King: Trashichhodzong, the beautiful medieval fortress/monastery which houses most of the Government’s office and King’s Throne room It is also the summer residence of Je Khenpo, the Chief Abbot: Handicrafts Emporium, which displays wide assortment of beautifully hand-woven and crafted products.

Day 3: Thimphu – Trongsa
After early breakfast, drive to Dochula pass (3,050m). If the weather permits, you can see a range of high Himalayan peaks towards the north east. Following peaks can be seen from this pass, on a clear day ; Masagang (7,158m), Tsendagang (6,960m), Terigang (7,060m ), Jejegangphugang (7,158 m ), Kangphugang (7,170 m ), Zongphugang (7, 060 m ), a table mountain that dominates the isolated region of Lunana – finally Gangkar puensum, the highest peak in Bhutan at 7,497m.
Further drive onwards arriving Wangduephodrang town for lunch. Then proceed to Tongsa across Pelela pass (3,300 m ), the traditional boundary between east and west. The pass is marked by a large prayer flag and the ground is covered with high altitude dwarf bamboo. Stop enroute at Chendbji Chorten, which was built in 18th century by a Lama named Shida, it is Nepalese in style with eyes painted at four cardinal points.
Unpon arrival in Trongsa, check into the lodge. Overnight at the lodge in Trongsa.
Day 4: Trongsa – Bumthang
After breakfast, visit Trongsa Dzong. Built in 1648, it was the seat of power over central and eastern Bhutan. Both the first and second King ruled the country from this ancient seat. Then visit the Ta Dzong (watch tower), dedicated to Buddhist epic hero, King Gesar of Ling.
Later drive to Bumthang through the most scenic landscape of lush pine forests, open fields and quaint hamlets. On arrival in Bumthang, check into the lodge. After lunch, visit to Kurje Lhakhang where the saint Padmasambhava subdued a local demon and left his body imprint on a rock; the Jambey Lhakhang (7th century temple), Tamshing Monastery (one of the oldest monastic school), the Jakar Dzong (administrative centre of the region) and Swiss Farm House.
Stroll in the village, visit the little handicrafts shop at the entrance to the town, and perhaps take refreshments at a local restaurant. Overnight at the lodge in Bumthang.
Day 5: Bumthang – Punakha
After breakfast explore fascinating valley of Bumthang. Then proceed to Trongsa where lunch would be served in local restaurant, famous for its traditional cuisine.
On the way,visit Wangduephodrang Dzong and town en route to Punakha. Upon arrival, check in at hotel. Evening at leisure. Overnight at the hotel in Punakha.
Day 6: Punakha – Paro
In the morning, visit Punakha Dzong, a massive structure built at the junction of two rivers. It was the capital of Bhutan until 1955, and still serves as the winter residence of the monk body. The first King, Ugyen Wangchuck was crowned here in 1907.
After lunch, drive to Paro (150 kms) en route visit Simtokha Dzong. The Simtokha Dzong, which was built in 1627 is the oldest in Bhutan. It houses the Institute for Language and Culture Studies before the Institute shifted in Taktse, Trongsa. On arrival in Paro, check into the hotel for overnight stay.
Day 7: Paro
Today’s sightseeing in Paro valley includs: Visit Ta Dzong, once a watchtower, which was built to defend Rinpung Dzong during inter-valley wars of the 17th century and it was inaugurated as Bhutan’s National Museum in 1968. Now the Ta Dzong is under major renovation which was cracks down due to the earthquake in 2009. After a short while, walk down a hillside trail to visit Rinpung Dzong. Built in 1646 by Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal , the first spiritual and temporal ruler of Bhutan, the Dzong houses the monastic body of Paro, the office of the Dzongda (district administrative head) and Thrimpon (judge) of Paro district.
After lunch drive to Drukgyel Dzong, built in 1647 by the Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyel to commemorate Bhutanese victory over the Tibetans in war of 1644. In the evening visit Kyichu Lhakhang, one the oldest and most sacred shrines of the Kingdom.

Day 8: Paro Depart
After breakfast you will be transferred to the airport for your onward flight.
